Week Note, Y22 W49

215 words about life — 07:54 · 11th Dec 2022

This week:

  • after a massive rescheduling—we were originally supposed to go in February—Ellie and I finally got to see comedian Hannah Gadsby’s new “feelgood show” Body of Work and it was fucking hilarious!

  • The new washing machines arrived, got installed and works as intended—the one that came with the house which was ten years old, had served us well

  • with numerous illnesses going around Jude’s nursery, he’s unsurprisingly brought them home and him and me and both coughing now

  • after almost a decade since I last went down the rabbithole of cupcake baking—I’m now revisiting and improving the line-up, first up: Butterscotch-filled Swedish-style Gingerbread Cupcakes with Blue Cream Cheese Frosting—which are now on v4

  • favourite song: 1973 (Acoustic) by James Blunt

  • currently reading: The Gene: An Intimate History by Siddhartha Mukherjee

  • Covid-19 cases (UK): 24,281,498 (11th December)1

  • Monkeypox cases (UK): 3,730 (9th December)2

Stand-up comedy and cupcake baking, what more could you want from a week?

  1. An interactive web-based dashboard to track COVID-19 in real time

  2. Edouard Mathieu, Fiona Spooner, Saloni Dattani, Hannah Ritchie and Max Roser (2022) - “Monkeypox”. Published online at OurWorldInData.org. Retrieved from: https://ourworldindata.org/monkeypox
